Naperville Hosting Ribbon Cutting 10th Fire Station, Feb. 9
Naperville Hosting Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Tenth Fire Station NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel and the City Council will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9 to celebrate the opening of the city’s 10th fire station. The public is invited to attend the celebration and see first-hand how the environmentally friendly building, located at 3201 95th St., is enhancing public safety for residents and businesses in the city. “Throughout the past six months, I have watched the construction of this station and continually thought about how the building will serve the southwest portion of Naperville,” Mayor A. George Pradel said. “Response times in the area served by this building will decrease, and every second counts in an emergency situation. The station will also be staffed using existing manpower, which results in cost savings for the city. I am pleased this station is open and ready to serve our residents and businesses.” The city is pleased to announce that construction costs for Fire Station No. 10 have come in under budget. In addition, the city received two grants to fund environmentally friendly features of the building. The first, a $30,000 Energy Efficiency Block Grant, has covered the installation of LED lighting at the station. The second, a $37,059 grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Foundation, has offset the cost of a geo-thermal heating and cooling system for the building. The city has applied for silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the station. Fire Station No. 10 will primarily service the areas bordered by 83rd Street to the north, Book Road to the east, the city’s municipal boundary to the west and the electrical lines between 95th Street and 103rd Street to the south. Specific areas served by the new station include Aero Estates, Burnham Point, Carillon Club, Frontier Place, Glenmuir, Heatherstone, Naperville Crossings, Penncross Knoll, Signature Club at Clearwater, Summerfield, Tall Grass, Wheatland Heights, White Eagle, Windridge and Woodlake. Fire Station No. 10 will contribute to the city’s goal of the Naperville Fire Department responding to 90 percent of all emergency calls in six minutes or less. Currently, in the area that will be served by the new station, the Fire Department reaches fewer than 70 percent of all emergencies within six minutes.
